Thousands of cyclists roam the streets of Montreal on Sunday as part of the Tour de l’île.
The event, which was highly anticipated among cycling enthusiasts, however, is causing a stir for motorists as many roads are closed until 4pm.
The 36km route is completely closed to automobile traffic, passing through seven metropolitan areas, namely the plateau Mont-Royal, Rosemond-la-Pettit-Battery, Outremond, C -te d’Ivoire-Nodre-Dame-de-Grace, Suite. -Ouest, Verdun and Ville-Marie and Westmount.
The first cyclists departed from three starting points at 9:30 am: Park La Fontaine, Plateau-Mont-Royal, Park McDonald’s, C -te d’Ivoire-Notre-Dame-de-Grace and Angrikான்n Park, southwest. The last wave will start at 11 am.

While conversing with several cycling enthusiasts standing in line to get tickets, Jean-François Rheault noticed that they were eager to participate in this festive event.
Many smiles on the faces of the cyclists who took part in the Tour La Newt on Friday evening.
“It simply came to our notice then. This is really a party. We reclaim the space of the streets for a few hours. It allows the young and the old to circulate safely, ”he told LCN.
