The remains of Crystelle Mariel Quas were fishing from the St-Charles River on Thursday afternoon, 11 days after he and one of his friends drowned in the river.

Authorities first announced the body of a woman was found in the river at about 1:10 pm, near the rue Haut Board, about 2 km east of the tragic bicycle bridge.

The body was handed over to the coroner for proper identification. The identity of 22-year-old student Cristelle Mariel Quas was not confirmed until Friday morning.

After completing its intensive search on the river about a week ago, the Quebec Police decided on Thursday to re-mobilize its maritime unit due to the “window of opportunity”.

The two victims, both in their twenties, were studying for a master’s degree in business administration at the Faculty of Management Sciences at Laval University.
