She lived the dream of many pedestrians: the board led, and the 30-year-old was injured in the fall.

It was on June 3, at the meeting between Boulevard Gromasi and Rue Saint-Denis. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

According to the doctors, I was very lucky to come out of this abyss unscathed. Nothing was broken for me, but it could have been worse.

He says he has severe pain in his back, hips and joints.

“I’m under medical supervision,” he said. The sinkhole boards I fell on had a lot of construction debris, metal wires and nails. The wooden bridge, in fact, was a simple board, apparently in poor condition and not compliant. ⁇

According to MMe Gott, after his crash, intercepted the lane and told police to take the sidewalk on the other side of the street. But she still worries about the poor security around this construction site.

He complained to the Service de police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM) and the city ombudsman.

But most of all, she wants to condemn the situation because she is afraid that other passers-by will be hurt.

“It simply came to our notice then. I want to create awareness for the city, recognize its responsibility and ensure that the construction sites of its agents are safe, Sabrina Gott asks. I do not want the same situation to happen to anyone else. It scared me so much! ⁇

Whose fault is it?

The Michaudville Company, on behalf of the City of Montreal, is in the process of repairing the site.

Sylvain Phaneuf, general manager of the company, did not respond to our request for a security interview on his site.

It is also not possible to obtain explanations from the city of Montreal on the steps taken to protect the site.

The director general of the Piétons Québec organization, Sandrine Cabana-Degani, wondered if the city had been surveyed to ensure the facilities were safe.

When there are construction sites in Montreal, there is an obligation to provide a sidewalk for pedestrians, but the infrastructure must still be secure.

An accident on the road, but not involving a vehicle, is not considered a road accident by the Society d l’Assurance Automobile du Quebec, which prevents pedestrians such as Sabrina Gott from receiving compensation. “We have to go back to the city to get compensation,” he saidMe Kabana Degani.

However, he says an executive committee has been set up by Quebec to look into the matter.
