Twenty men in their twenties were seriously injured on Saturday morning in Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil in Monterrey.
Called at around 7am on Saturday, emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene of the accident, on the edge of Sainte-Julie, near the intersection of rue Noble, Bernard-Pillon.
When officers arrived, the two youths were seriously injured and required treatment. After being extricated from the vehicle, they were taken to a trauma center where they were evaluated. “At the moment, they are seriously injured, but not in danger,” said Sébastien Guillemette of the MRC Richelieu–Saint-Laurent.
The police said that no criminal offense was involved in the accident. At Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to take the first curve of the “double S” that forms the rue Nobel.
“He went straight instead of taking the curve. The vehicle left the road and overturned,” Agent Guillemette said.
The road, which was closed for a few hours, is now open to motorists.
