Fifth beta version of iOS 16 It has a feature that many iPhone users have missed: the battery percentage in the status bar at the top of the screen.

cog width in iPhone X, released in 2017, left a small space for the battery status indicator. So, Apple instead buried it in the notification shade, which I scrolled down to get to. It’s been hidden there ever since, except for iPhones that have a home button.

With the latest iOS 16 beta from Apple, the battery percentage is written as a number inside the battery icon, which leaves enough space for cell signal information and Wi-Fi status. This means that you can see the exact percentage without scrolling down the screen. It can also be useful if Apple adds an always-on display for the next iPhonewhere you will be able to check the battery status without touching your phone.

An Apple spokesperson did not immediately say whether the battery percentage will reach the final release of iOS 16. The update is currently only available as a developer and public beta. The new iPhone program will be launched this fall, most likely in September when Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 14.

You need to install the latest iOS 16 beta developer version to show the battery percentage, but it should show in Public preview coming soon. To turn it on, open Settings, go to Battery, and toggle the Battery percentage option so it’s on.
