In Sherbrooke, six people were assaulted and injured, some seriously, as they left bars overnight Friday through Saturday, police said Monday morning.
First, around 2:30 a.m., three young men in their twenties were attacked by a group of individuals near the Granada Theater on Wellington Street.
“In circumstances to be determined, the three victims were assaulted by a group of individuals who fled immediately after the attack,” Sherbrooke Police Department spokesman Benoit Pellerin summarized.
All three youths were injured, but only one had to be taken to hospital.
Minutes later, at 2:45 a.m., three more people were attacked, this time in the parking lot of the Cinema House on rue des Grandes-Fourches.
Two of them had to be taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
Police have not said if the two incidents are connected.
“A lot of information has been sent to the police department after the events and we are working very hard to move the file quickly,” said Mr. Pellerin promised.
