After a day of sitting outside leadersIn the season finale in anticipation of a major role this regular season, running back rookie Brian Robinson Jr. was shot multiple times as the victim of an attempted robbery, according to NFL media And the NBC Sports Washington. A third-round draft pick from Alabama this spring, Robinson is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries after an apparent carjacking attempt, per ESPN.

The 23-year-old Robinson is now hospitalized after at least two bullets hit his lower body during the attempted robbery. According to Tom Pellisero. His immediate future on the field is unclear.

The leaders issued the following statement:

We have learned that Brian Robinson Jr. was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or car theft in Washington, DC. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at the hospital, where team officials are on site with him. We ask that you please respect Brian’s privacy at this time.

This summer, Robinson emerged as the favorite for the best consecutive job in Washington, even with current Antonio Gibson exiting a 1,000-yard season. Touches totaled 16 during the captains’ first two pre-season games, and he rotated with Gibson as the ball carrier for the club’s first team for the duration of training camp. At the very least, he was expected to open 2022 as a regular complement to Gibson in both a running and passing game.

Robinson, a two-time Alabama national champion, spent five seasons with Crimson Tide before entering the NFL, most notably exceeding 1,400 streaming yards as a full-time starter in 2021.

In Robinson’s absence, veteran pass picker JD Makisic is likely to see a slight rise in touches alongside Gibson.
