JACKSONVILLE, FL – Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson Washington coach Doug Pederson said Monday that he should play in Sunday’s season opener against the Washington Commanders.
Robinson’s comeback comes less than nine months after he ruptured his left Achilles tendon in a loss to the New York Jets on December 26. He was limited to individual work throughout most of the bootcamp but participated in team drills while the team was involved. Practices with the Atlanta Falcons on August 24 and 25.
It is uncertain how far Robinson will play against the leaders. Pederson said throughout the camp that he wanted to be careful with Robinson and not risk guilt again.
Since he also didn’t appear in any of the pre-season games, it’s safe to assume Robinson won’t have his usual workload.

Robinson rushed for 1,837 yards and 15 touchdowns and earned 80 passes for 566 yards and three touchdowns over two seasons with Jaguar.
In 2020, Robinson posted the most melee yards (1414) and the second most dash yards (1,070) by an unpolished newbie in the Common Draft Era.
