It was a forgettable night for the Los Angeles Rams — but especially for one of their biggest stars, linebacker Galen Ramsey.
The defenders of the Super Bowl were Defeated by Buffalo Bills, 31-10, at the season opener at SoFi Stadium Thursday night, led by Josh Allen’s dominant performance of the three-legged touchdown. But his night seemed to be made easier by Ramsey’s struggles.
for every Primary scores for PFFRamsey was targeted seven times and allowed six completions for 124 yards and two touchdowns. It allowed a perfect passer rating when targeting, and burned into a deep drop in front of Stefon Diggs in the fourth quarter.
It would have been a normal rough night for Ramsey, the five-time Pro Bowler who signed a $105 million extension with the Rams in 2020. But it was made worse by comments the famous star made earlier in his career about Allen in Interview with GQ.
“I suspect [Josh] Allen is rubbish, Ramsey said in 2018. “I don’t care what no one says. It’s rubbish. It will show up too. That’s a stupid choice for me. We play with them this year, and I’m so excited.”
Allen has now played for the Ramsey team three times, having won all three games.
This was the second consecutive match Ramsay had been exposed to, after a brutal performance in the Super Bowl. In that match, LA won 23-20, and the 27-year-old corner was defeated for a deep touchdown by T. Higgins, as well as several deep completions by Jamar Chase. He allowed 160 total yards to be covered in that game.
