Cardinals vs Chiefs score: Live updates, match stats, and highlights as Keeler Murray and Patrick Mahomes face off

The Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs blasted off at University of Phoenix Stadium on Sunday for the AFC’s playoff against NFC. Both teams emerge from disappointing playoff losses last season, with the Chiefs losing to the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime in the AFC Championship and the Cardinals losing to the Los Angeles Rams on the Wild Card Tour.

The Chiefs were in control from kick-off and headed to the locker room in the first half with a 23-7 lead.

Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes made an early statement, throwing a touchdown pass into a tight end Travis Kelsey on his first run. Mahomes threw two extra touchdown passes, Clyde Edwards Heller.

The Chiefs were able to get a few more points on the board right before entering the locker room, thanks to a 54-yard field goal from Harrison Butker.

The Cardinals got their first and only touchdown from half in the second quarter. Quarterback Kyler Murray set the score on the long run, allowing James Conner to hit it from two yards away.

Things were looking up for the home team when they reclaimed a Juju Smith-Schuster stumble, but they couldn’t take advantage of the takeaway.
