Ryan Granthamknown for playing Jeffrey Augustine on “Riverdale,” was sentenced to life behind bars for the murder of his mother.
The 24-year-old was sentenced Wednesday in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada – nearly 6 months after he pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge for his mother’s death, Barbara Whiteback in 2020.
Prosecutors say the shamed actor recorded his confession and the outcome of the tragic ordeal with his own camera at the time – he admitted in the clip, “I shot her in the back of her head. In the moments that followed, she would have known I was.”

According to prosecutors, Grantham shot his mother in the back of the head while she was playing the piano at home – the next day he loaded his car with guns, ammunition and Molotov cocktails and directed to Rideau Cottage – where the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spirits.
Investigators investigating the case say Grantham later admitted he was trying to kill Trudeau and wrote about his target in a magazine.
Under the terms of his sentence, Grantham will not be eligible for parole during the first 14 years of his incarceration.
