Shooting: 2 police officers killed in shooting north of Toronto

According to the South Simcoe Police Service, officers responded to a call shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday about a public disturbance at a home in Innisfil, near Barrie, about 100 km north of Toronto.

The two officers were shot dead inside the home, the police force added in a press release.

They were taken to a local hospital, where one died on Tuesday evening.

The other officer has been transferred to a trauma center in Toronto. Police confirmed his death on Wednesday morning.

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has launched an investigation.
