4 Clemson ran into an early deficit at Florida State in Week 7 but got away with a 34-28 win after beating the Seminoles 23-0 during a long mid-game stretch. Florida tied with six points with 2:17 remaining but failed to convert a side kick as the Tigers improved to 7-0.
With this win, Clemson could go up in the polls on Sunday with No. 3 Alabama losing to sixth place in Tennessee. Although Clemson was barely dominant in the win, he led 34-14 for much of the second half as Will Shipley scored 121 yards on 20 carts. The victory forms a battle between the unbeaten teams next week as the Tigers host the No. 18 in Syracuse after the orange secured a 6-0 win with a 24-9 victory over 15th at North Carolina State.
In another ranked move, No. 22 Kentucky cut a two-game losing streak by defeating No. 16 Mississippi State 27-17 behind a massive bout from Chris Rodriguez Jr. Wildcats quarterback Will Levis returned to the field on Saturday after missing last week’s loss to South Carolina with a foot injury and completed 17 of 23 passes for 230 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
