YouTube Premium gets a price increase

YouTube Premium gets a price increase

Google announced a price increase for YouTube Premium Family plans today, bringing the starting price for family to $22.99 per month. In addition to raising the price for new customers, this new price will affect those with cheaper old ones as well.

In an email we received this afternoon (below), you can see that Google is recognizing my status as a “Long-Term and Valuable Member” who “currently pays a lower price for Premium than the price available to new subscribers”. For those curious, I pay $14.99 a month for my YouTube Premium family plan, which is an outdated rate at this point. My new price will start in about 4 months.

The increase to $22.99 for new accounts is also an increase from the $17.99 YouTube Premium family plans are priced at. So no matter how you look at the situation, everyone will pay more. Would you pay the extra $5? Yes, you will likely get YouTube without ads.

As of today, there does not appear to be a price increase for individual plans. Single YouTube Premium plans will still start at $11.99 per month. If you stick to one in That old price is $7.99 a month-You are still safe (for now).

We can’t all live without YouTube Premium, right?
