There is no word that it will come back the same way or differently, but Musk said, “Please note that Twitter is going to do a lot of stupid things in the coming months. We’ll keep what works and change what doesn’t.”

Twitter has confirmed that it is now adding an “official” unpaid gray check mark alongside the $8 per month blue check mark that anyone can soon get with Twitter Blue.
The news was shared by Esther Crawford from Twitter, Whoever confirmed this “official” designation will be released along with a paid blue check mark which is used to indicate that the account was official or of public interest.

However, it does not appear that all accounts that are currently verified with a blue check mark will receive the “Official” rating. On top of that, this new tag appears to accomplish what the blue checkmark is currently doing before soon becoming a paid feature that everyone can have.
Accounts that will receive this new “official” designation include “government accounts, businesses, business partners, major media, publishers, and certain public figures.” Those not considered “official” by Twitter will still be able to pay $8 per month to sign up for Twitter Blue without identity verification to get a “blue checkmark and access to select features.”
Twitter Blue and the “Official” tag are slated to launch on or after November 9th She didn’t want to cause any confusion during the US midterm elections.
After Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter was completed, reports surfaced that the company was charging $20 a month for verification. Musk took to Twitter to defend the fee, then confirmed that he’d end up with $8 a month.

Those who subscribe to Twitter Blue for the blue check mark will also get priority in replies, mentions, and search, the ability to post longer audio and video, and half the number of ads.
