Festivière’s backyard leaves Quebec harbor

The backyard of the Festivière de Quebec will leave Quebec harbor in the summer of 2023.

The site behind the cruise terminal on Dalhousie Street will change name and manager. The port authority wants to revitalize its platform by targeting a wider clientele.

For its part, the Je bois local group has announced that its summer program will relocate its activities. While many regulars greatly appreciate the amenities and the beauty of the river, the organization is currently looking for a new location.

Since 2015

Backyard has been located in Quebec’s Old Port since 2015 and has customers. However, the Port of Quebec management did not renew the company’s lease, which had expired.

The noise was condemned by some close neighbors. Managers already have another family-friendly plan in mind for the location.

However, the basic concept may be the same, eating with your feet in the water or drinking beer by the river.

Last summer, the Port of Quebec launched the I-Participate Citizen platform, inviting the community to get involved in port projects.

This approach, aimed at being more transparent, aims to improve the coexistence between the city and the port. The Port Authority has faced some issues over the past few years, particularly with the air quality file.

Discounts

The Je bois local group is inviting the business community to propose via email platforms the potential to host The Backyard in the summer of 2023.

The site’s success encouraged the company to build a second location near Lewes three years ago. For its part, the rear of the Festivière de Lévis will return to Rigollet Park from June 2023.

The Je bois local company operates, among others, in the backyards of Festibière de Québec, Levis and Sherbrooke and Festibière de Québec and Lévis.

With the impetus of Passeport Je bois local and Mouvement Je bois local, two initiatives aimed at promoting the microbrewery industry, the group now has four specialty stores for sale in Quebec City.
