Director and co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn recently revealed that he’s been writing a new letter Superman A movie and Henry Cavill won’t be in it. The director has now provided more information on what to expect from the upcoming feature.
In a series of tweets responding to the Twitter user, Gunn once again reiterated why Cavill wasn’t in his position Superman The movie, while also explaining that while Superman appears younger, will not be an origin story. Instead, Gunn said, Superman will already know a lot of people in his life when the movie happens – he’ll just be a younger version of himself in the process.
Gunn also took the time to respond to those who questioned why he stopped moving forward with Cavill in the lead role at all. In one private response, a fan said they don’t understand why Gunn would have such a “cold indifference” to let Cavill go. Gunn replied that it was not cold, that he had spoken to Cavill several times since “an open, honest and respectful discussion” and that the two were “good”.
While not much is known about Gunn’s next Superman movie, we do know that a younger Superman is set to appear in the role. In a recent report from diverseHowever, this was expanded upon slightly, with the report noting that the script “will focus on Superman’s life as a cub reporter in the fictional city of Metropolis”.
The report went on to indicate that he will meet key characters in the film, including colleague Lois Lane, among others.
