Ohio State adds quarterback transfer.
Former Oregon State quarterback Tristan Gebbia is joining Ohio State via transfer for the final year of his collegiate eligibility, according to a report from Austin Ward Rivals.
Gebbia, a sophomore who began his career at Nebraska as a member of the 2017 recruiting class, is expected to be a backup for the Buckeyes. While he started five games for Oregon State between the 2019 and 2020 seasons, he did not play at all in 2021 due to a hamstring injury and played in only four games in 2022, completing 10 of 11 passes for 79 yards.
Over the course of his career at Oregon State, Gebbia completed 128 of 200 pass attempts for 1,250 yards and five touchdowns with four interceptions and added three rushing touchdowns on the ground. He also added catches of 8 yards and a 40-yard touchdown run in 2020.
Gebbia will give the Buckeyes a veteran presence in the quarterback room and provide added depth behind whoever wins the first quarterback game between Kyle McCord and Devin Brown. It can prove to be a valuable guide for younger quarterbacks, as it is Oregonian said In November he plans to pursue a coaching career when he finishes playing.

The addition of Gebbia gives Ohio State four quarterback scholarships to the 2023 roster as he joins McCord, Brown and upcoming freshman Lincoln Kienholz, who will join the Buckeyes this summer.
Jebbia became the fourth freshman transfer to join the Buckeyes’ 2023 roster along with ex-Syracuse safety Jihad Carter, ex-Arizona State snapper John Ferelman, and former Kent State kicker Casey Magyar (who is in full swing).
