Brook Lopez and Trey Lyles sparked a heated argument in the dying seconds of the Milwaukee Bucks’ 133-124 win over the Sacramento Kings Monday night.
With about 15 seconds left, Giannis Antitekounmo slowly started dribbling the ball to end the clock. Lillis, as Antetokounmpo walked past him, reached out and fouled Antetokounmpo hard before giving him a shove. With the match basically over, Lopez didn’t appreciate the mistake and immediately jumped in.
Lopez immediately got Lyles in the face, and things escalated very quickly. The two began to push each other as both teams slammed into what became a massive scrum that fell down the scorers’ table at Golden 1 Center.
It took a lot of people to get Lopez to dump Lyles, too.
Officials eventually separated the group. López and Lyles both had technical fouls and were sent off.
The Bucks then ran out the clock and sealed the win by nine points.
“I don’t know what happened, but we’re not going to take anything from nobody. Trust me on that,” Kings coach Mike Brown said. Via Jason Anderson from the Sacramento Bee. “And they’ll all be advocates for each other there.”
Lopez finished the night with 23 points and eight rebounds. Antitokonmo led the Bucks with 46 points and 12 rebounds. He shot 19 of 28 from the field. Milwaukee has now won four of the last five.
Dearon Fox led the Kings with 35 points and eight rebounds, and Domantas Sabonis had 23 points, 17 rebounds and 15 triple-double assists. Lyles finished with six points and seven rebounds off the bench. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Sacramento.
“It’s unfortunate. I think it was a great game,” Bucks coach Mike Bodenholzer said of the fight. Via 247 Cameron Salerno. “I’m very impressed with Sacramento and the way they play. I’m not going to say anything about what happened or didn’t happen.”
