Gwyneth Paltrow trial live: Skateboarding collision X-rays emerge as Goop mogul complains about court photos

Before proceedings began on the second day on Wednesday, Goop’s attorneys argued her privacy was being disturbed by the camera inside the courtroom pointing directly at her face and the paparazzi waiting for her in the parking lot.

Mr. Sanderson, a retired ophthalmologist, is suing Paltrow over the incident, with proceedings underway in Park City, Utah.

Mr. Sanderson claims that Ms. Paltrow was descending the novice slope of the Bandana Run on Flagstaff Mountain in an “out of control” manner, According to Court TV.

He claims she hit him so hard he got kicked out. In a press conference in 2019, he said that moments before the collision, “He heard this just hysterical screaming like… King Kong in the jungle or something”.

He said at the time that he believed the speed at which Ms. Paltrow was bitten could explain the extent of his injuries. “A small bullet can make a big hole,” he said Salt Lake Tribune.

At that press conference announcing the suit, Mr. Sanderson said he noticed a number of large “slow down” signs as he headed down the Bandana run, so he slowed but stayed with the stream of other skiers coming down the slope.

“It was just instantaneous,” he said in 2019. “I hurt my back. … I felt like it pushed me forward.”

He said he remembered not being able to control himself as he went down.

“Then that’s all I remember up to that point—just outside,” he said.

The court heard Terry Sanderson showed the “typical hallmarks” of a post-crash traumatic brain injury in 2016.

Sanderson’s lawyers are trying to prove that it was Ms. Paltrow who hit their client, arguing that a downhill skier always has the right of way.

Instead, Paltrow argues, Sanderson bumped into her.

Testifying for the defence, neuroradiologist Dr Gibby said the scenario presented by Mr Sanderson’s lawyers was more consistent with the degree of his injuries – four broken ribs.

“The force of an injury from a fall alone will not be the same as if someone had hit you and knocked you down,” said Dr. Gibby. “If you have the combined strength of two people, it will also increase… the possibility of him being injured.”

Sanderson argues that Ms. Paltrow is primarily responsible for the accident. In his complaint filed in 2019, he alleged that after the collision, she “got up, turned and walked away, leaving Sanderson stunned, lying on the snow, with serious injuries.”

“The Deer Valley ski instructor, who was coaching Mrs. Paltrow, but did not see the accident, skated, saw the injured Sanderson and drove away, falsely accusing Sanderson of causing the accident,” the complaint states.

On the other hand, Ms. Paltrow claims her coach actually witnessed the collision.

The rule of hills in Utah is that those ahead of you have the right of way and those coming from behind must avoid others. Sanderson and Paltrow both claim to have been at the bottom of the mountain.

Testimony stopped for the day in Park City, Utah, at the trial about who was responsible for a 2016 skiing accident involving Gwyneth Paltrow.
