Gwyneth Paltrow’s lawyer complains after filming the actress in court
The ongoing civil trial of actor Gwyneth Paltrow over a 2016 skiing collision continued on Wednesday.
The Hollywood star and CEO of Goop was accused of running into retired ophthalmologist Terry Sanderson, 76, on a ski slope at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah in February 2016.
Mr Sanderson claims Paltrow slammed him in a “full body blow” leaving him with “a permanent traumatic brain injury, four broken ribs, pain, suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress and disfigurement”.
Meanwhile, Paltrow claims it was Sanderson who bumped into her on the ramp.
Testifying before Mr. Sanderson’s legal team, a neuroradiologist, Dr. Wendell Gibby, said that the scenario presented by Sanderson was more consistent with the degree of his injuries.
“The force of an injury from a fall alone will not be the same as if someone had hit you and knocked you down,” said Dr. Gibby. “If you have the combined strength of two people, it will also increase… the possibility of him being injured.”
The injuries caused Sanderson to “suddenly” experience a sharp decline in the quality of his mental and emotional life, the radiologist said.
Seven years later, the trial will determine who is responsible for damages that started at $3.1 million but have since been reduced to a $300,000 claim against Paltrow. She is seeking $1 in damages and to cover her legal fees.

“We’ve got a new camera pointed at my clients over there,” said attorney Steve Owens. “It was this [continuing] Problem is, for example, the reporters were in front of my client’s car coming out yesterday, the cameras in her face.”
He continued, “I’m crazy, I don’t want journalists to make changes without informing [the judge]. “

An expert explains Mr. Sanderson’s injuries after the collision
Sanderson’s lawyers are trying to prove that it was Ms. Paltrow who hit their client, arguing that a downhill skier always has the right of way.
Instead, Paltrow argues, Sanderson bumped into her.
Testifying for the defence, neuroradiologist Dr Gibby said the scenario presented by Mr Sanderson’s lawyers was more consistent with the degree of his injuries – four broken ribs.
“The force of an injury from a fall alone will not be the same as if someone had hit you and knocked you down,” said Dr. Gibby. “If you have the combined strength of two people, it will also increase… the possibility of him being injured.”

ICYMI: The parties aim to prove who is responsible for the collision
Sanderson argues that Ms. Paltrow is primarily responsible for the accident. In his complaint filed in 2019, he alleged that after the collision, she “got up, turned and walked away, leaving Sanderson stunned, lying on the snow, with serious injuries.”
“The Deer Valley ski instructor, who was coaching Mrs. Paltrow, but did not see the accident, skated, saw the injured Sanderson and drove away, falsely accusing Sanderson of causing the accident,” the complaint states.
On the other hand, Ms. Paltrow claims her coach actually witnessed the collision.
The rule of hills in Utah is that those ahead of you have the right of way and those coming from behind must avoid others. Sanderson and Paltrow both claim to have been at the bottom of the mountain.
