“The Board is granting you full parole because it is of the opinion that you do not present an unacceptable risk to society,” writes the Parole Board of Canada (PBC).

In the spring of 2022, Martin had his parole extended by six months. A repeat drunken driving offender was able to walk out of jail after being re-incarcerated in July 2021.

Yves Martin, 43, was caught driving into his employer’s yard when he was banned from driving for life.

conditions

In October 2022, the commission refused to grant him full parole, instead extending his day parole for six months.

Yves Martin killed three people on August 1, 2015. In January 2017, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the slaying of a couple and their four-year-old child by Ron Saint-Paul in Sigoutimi. He then had eleven years and nine months to take office. In 2020, he was already on day parole despite the length of his sentence.

In order to ensure that victims continue to live in peace, the Commission bans Yves Martin within the borders of the municipalities of Terrebonne, Mascoch, Saguenay, MRC du Fjord-Saguenay and MRC du Lac-Saint- Jean without prior written authorization from his releasing officer.

“Your levels of authority and motivation are high, while your ability to reintegrate is moderate. […] Additionally, you express grief and sympathy for the loved ones of the victims,” CLCC adds.

treatment

Yves Martin successfully completed closed addiction treatment. He resumed a more sustained involvement in the AA movement.

In his case, the risk of public restructuring is underestimated, the Commission considers.

“In conclusion, in view of the progress you have made and the changes you have made to your lifestyle, the Commission believes that the time is right for you to access less restricted freedom,” the BBC concludes.
