(CNN) If you’ve ever dreamed of escaping from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, head to a distant island With no other residents, now might be your chance.
It is located off the southern coast of ScotlandBarlocco Island is for sale at over £150,000 ($190,000).
“There is still a very romantic feeling about owning your very own private Scottish island, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy some peace and quiet in the most beautiful scenery around,” said Aaron Edgar of The Galbraith Group, the agent handling the sale, in a statement.
It is unlikely that the buyer will be traveling. The nearest town is about six miles away, and the nearest train station is Dumfries, an hour’s bus ride from town. London and Edinburgh are over 350 and 100 miles apart, respectively.
With lush green grass and rocky outcrops jutting into the sea, the island covers an area of about 25 acres, but there are no buildings on it, just an overflowing pond that provides water for livestock and wildlife in the winter months.
According to Rhe listsIt will therefore be the buyer’s responsibility to investigate development possibilities with the local authority.
At low tide, the island can be reached on foot, by tractor, or quad bike. For the rest of the time, there’s a pebbly beach where boats can be anchored—”the perfect base for exploring the island, taking part in some cool-water swimming…and enjoying a picnic by the water,” Edgar added.
It is located in a Site of Special Scientific Interest – an area of the UK defined as being of special interest because of the rare species of animals or plants it contains – and is a haven for all kinds of wildlife, including the magnificent black gulls, and rare plants such as sea buckthorn and lavender. And the scent of orchids.
The agent expects a lot of interest in this miniature kingdom. “We have seen strong demand from both domestic and international parties for entire private islands having dealt with the sale of several in Scotland,” said Edgar.
