Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the world after lung cancer. Two young women from Quebec decided to get involved in research.

“I was diagnosed five years ago. After that, I wanted to give back to improve care, based on screening and awareness. So I set up the Colorectal and Digestive Cancer Fund of the CHU de Québec together with Dr. François Ledarte, Dr. Laurence Bernier and Dr. Maxime Senard-Poirier. Since then, we’ve wanted to give back to the community through research, equipment purchases and training,” explains Sarah-Lynne Beaulieu, president of the Colorectal and Digestive Cancer Fund.

The fund will help Kim create swimsuits for her condition.

“For my part, I was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2021. Last spring, I was looking for a swimsuit to go with my new position. Thanks to the funding, we have developed a bathing suit for women with ostoses that provides relief and conceals the equipment. There’s even an internal pocket to keep the bag handy,” says Kim Gallien-Plant, a colon cancer survivor.

The swimwear will be available for delivery from June.
