[EN IMAGES] did you see him  A weather phenomenon intrigues many Quebecers

An unusual weather phenomenon fascinated many Quebecers on Saturday afternoon, when a rainbow was seen around the sun for several minutes.

The TVANouvelles.ca team got some pictures of the weather event in various towns in the south of the province.

The question on everyone’s lips right now is: What weather phenomenon is this?

Meteorologist Gilles Bryan confirms that it is a solar halo.

“This phenomenon occurs in the presence of high clouds, such as cirrus, composed of ice crystals. The solar halo sometimes announces rain, but not this time,” he explains to TVA Nouvelles.

“The Cloud System […] A well-established pressure ridge over central Quebec leads south of the province.
