Devastated after last winter’s debacle, the former SAAQ boss has been given an ambitious new mandate: to untangle Quebec’s courts.

Denis Marsolais was fired by the CAQ government in April following the disastrous deployment of the SAAQclic digital portal. After closing the state corporation’s offices for three weeks in the middle of winter, Quebecers came out with numerous technical problems and long lines.

A tough road in SAAQ

Last April, Transport Minister Genevieve Guilbault announced that a CEO should deliver services to citizens and that these had been “transformed”, explaining the dismissal of Denis Marsolais.

“The big problem we experienced was that the leaders of SAAQ – and we changed the president – did not plan to have more staff when we reopened, because, obviously, after three weeks, we had to expect.
