Chirica de Armas, who represented Uruguay in the Miss World competition in 2015, has died. She was 26 years old.

Cervical cancer occurs most often in people over the age of 30, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The agency says the disease can be prevented through regular screening and the HPV vaccine.
