Improving communication becomes crucial for Derek Carr, and the Saints’ receivers

The Saints offense is not currently working the way it should. It causes a lot of dysfunction during games.

It also pushes quarterback Derek Carr Make it crystal clear for the cameras Every time he thinks the bad result is not his fault.

The situation has created increased scrutiny on the issue of whether quarterbacks and receivers are communicating properly. While looking at an article on this topic from Catherine Terrell of ESPN.com, one quote stood out among the rest.

“It’s not like we’re not trying to communicate,” receiver Michael Thomas said. “There are no men uniting. I don’t know if everyone’s definition of communication is the same“.

This is a very telling observation. It can be as simple as one person “communicating” for the benefit of the cameras, rather than for the benefit of the people he or she is trying to communicate with.

Carr seems to be keenly aware of the fact that everything he does can be seen by the millions watching the game. He seems overly willing to blame others for the collective failings of crime when those cameras are on him.

As shown on Friday BFT Live (clip attached), it would really hurt Carr’s relationship with his teammates. They will lose respect for him. They will not be inclined to follow him. They will eventually catch it. Over time, they will count the days and hours until they don’t have to deal with him, at least until the next training camp.

It all falls on the quarterback’s shoulders. It always is. He’s the one who needs to find a way to be on the same page with his teammates. He’s the leader, or at least he should be.

Currently, Carr is not. And it appears. During the team’s current short bye, the best thing Carr can do is look in the mirror and change his ways when it comes to how he treats his teammates, especially during games.
