Attempted murder of a driver in Rivière-des-Prairies

(Montreal) A 31-year-old woman was the target of an attempted murder overnight in downtown Montreal.

She was shot while in her vehicle on avenue Jean-Rainaud, near rue Jacques-Rousseau, in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector.

A call to 911 at 4:20 a.m. Sunday reported her injured.

“When the police arrived at the scene, they found the victim in the house where she had taken shelter. “She was knocked unconscious and injured in the upper body by the projectile,” said Caroline Chevrefils, spokeswoman for the Montreal Metropolitan Police Service (SPVM).

The victim was taken to the hospital, but his life is not feared.

“The victim has a criminal record,” an SPVM spokesperson confirmed, while reports said the woman was known to police sources.

SPVM investigators and forensic identification experts were called to the scene to examine the scene and try to understand what happened. A canine unit was also called to the spot to search for clues and evidence.

A motive for the crime was not immediately known and no arrests have been made.

The SPVM investigation continues.
