Kelly Severide returns to the firehouse.
Taylor Kinney, who left “Chicago Fire” midway through Season 11, will return for the upcoming 12th season. diverse Confirms. The number of episodes in which he will appear has not yet been determined. According to sources, his return will occur at the beginning of the season.
In January, the actor stepped away from the NBC procedural to deal with a personal matter. Kenny last appeared in Episode 14 of Season 11, which aired in February. In the March 1 episode, his character did not appear. Severide had left town to go to an arson investigation training program, taking an opportunity too big to pass up.
Although he did not return for the Season 11 finale, Jesse Spencer, who exited the show in 2021, made a guest appearance. Spencer has made several appearances since his departure, and during the finale he proposed to Sylvie Brett (Kara Kilmer), so it’s possible he’ll appear again next season.
Although the writers’ room for the new season has begun, there is no premiere date because the SAG-AFTRA strike is ongoing. Andrea Newman, who previously co-produced with Derek Haas, will host Season 12 of Chicago Fire; Haas, who co-created the series, stepped away from Wolf Entertainment after the eleventh season.
Kenny’s news comes amid many changes in the world of One Chicago; Nick Gehlfuss, who appeared in every episode of Chicago Med, exited at the end of last season. On “Chicago PD,” Jesse Lee Soffer left the top of last season; Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Hailey Upton, the wife of Sovere’s character, will exit during the upcoming 11th season.
