The Mayor’s Ball, Quebec’s most glamorous event of the year, raised $800,000 for the Fondation Jeunes Entente to help prevent psychological distress among 11- to 18-year-olds.
The 12th edition of the lavish evening would have made it possible to far surpass the $675,000 target set by the organizers. Eric Bujold, chairman of the board of directors of the Fondation Jeunes en Tête and head of customer relations at the National Bank, said he was “delighted to see so much money helping young people in need”.
Last year, $650,000 was raised during the Mayor’s Ball.
“A youth who drops out, is disadvantaged or mentally ill, is not only very serious but also incurs a huge cost to the economy and society,” underlines the honorary president of the 12th Ball. Mayor and Chairman and CEO of Desjardins Group, Guy Cormier.

More than 650 guests bought tickets to participate in the parade held at the Palace Pioneer Ground yesterday on the theme of Sky Path.

Tonight, we’re telling the world that it’s okay when your life gets stuck, when you put one knee on the ground, or when you doubt. Essential help
Alycia Domaty and Miguel Angel Ibarra Torres are two young student-athletes from Quebec who received assistance from the Fondation Jean’s Entade as part of their diploma before the medal program.

The two youngsters, aged 16 and 17 respectively, agree that the support provided to them is essential to their success.

Young Ibarra Torres, for his part, says the Youth in Mind Foundation’s help should allow him to enter police technology, “if everything goes well.”
