Ottawa’s document released earlier this week states that nearly 200 Canadians have been massacred overseas in the past five years.

Newspaper We got a list of the most dangerous countries for our travelers. Global Affairs Canada, which records these data, shows that Mexico is the most dangerous target. From 2016 to 2020 at least 24 Canadians were killed.
The United States ranks second in these funerals. Twenty Canadians have been killed in our neighbors in the south in those five years. Jamaica continues with 15 murders and 11 murders in the Philippines.
The government document also reveals that at least 10 Canadians have been killed in Burkina Faso since 2016. Six are Quebecs.
In January 2016, all six were on their way to participate in a humanitarian project in this West African country. They were attacked by explosions of terrorists setting fire to a hotel.
The infamous history made headlines for several days and shook the entire province. Of the six Cubes killed, four were from a carrier family well known to the people of Lock-Beaufort.
In all, 191 Canadians were killed in 63 countries between 2016 and 2020. At least 49 murders took place in 2016. However, that number dropped to 27 last year.
Entry to Cuba
Interestingly, Cuba was one of the two countries with the highest number of Canadians killed in 2020.
In November of the same year, Newspaper In Montreal, a Montreal man named Antonet Troublesi was killed in Cuba Before being buried in the sand of the beach not far from where she was staying during the trip.
The federal government has not released any names or circumstances related to the killings of Canadians abroad.
Me Michel W. Drapeau, a retired law professor and law professor at the University of Ottawa, condemns this lack of detail. He is notable for pushing Canada’s global affairs to release these figures.
Lack of transparency
“People have a right to know where the killings of Canadians are taking place in the world, for example, to consider their next trip,” laments Mr.e Flag.
World Affairs Canada has not answered many of our questions about the figures released this week.
The group also declined to say why it had not previously released a list of internationally killed civilians.
