Two 18-year-olds were shot and killed Sunday evening in Montreal-North. According to eyewitnesses, they were targeted by people in a car and then fled. An investigation has been initiated.
Another disturbing fact: projectile impacts were found in a residential building in the area where the victims were hit. Residents were in the building, but no one was injured, Véronique Dubuque, media relations officer for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) said Sunday evening.
Emergency services were called to the corner of Pascal Street and Matt Avenue around 8pm on Sunday after receiving several calls from citizens. At the scene, two 18-year-old males were found with gunshot wounds to their lower bodies. They were taken to the hospital while they were conscious and their lives were not in danger, according to Officer Dubuc.
This is a residential area of Montreal North, where the streets are lined with apartment buildings. According to eyewitnesses, several people in a vehicle opened fire on the victims who were walking along Rue Pascal. The assailants then fled.
A perimeter was established and SPVM officers and a dog handler were deployed. Bullets were found at the scene. Projectile impacts were also seen on the building in the area.
An SPVM investigation was opened to shed light on the circumstances of this armed attack.
