Jeremy Renner shoots the Mayor of Kingstown S3 after the Snowplow incident

Jeremy Renner has revealed a big step in his career after a horrific accident that almost took his life: he has returned to the set of “Mayor of Kingstown” to film season three.

Renner was involved in a near-fatal accident on January 1, 2023, after saving his nephew from injury with a snowplow. The actor was run over by his cat Sno-Cat, which weighed at least 14,330 pounds, putting Renner in the hospital with blunt chest trauma and bone injuries.

As Renner continues his recovery, he spoke with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper during CNN's New Year's Eve special about his physical therapy, as well as his upcoming album.

“We have a lot to celebrate this year,” Renner said. “I'm so lucky because I had a lot of things to live for. I have a giant family, a 10-year-old daughter. I would have disappointed and ruined a lot of people's lives if I had died. There's a lot for me to fight for. Recovery is a one-way street in my mind “I still work hard every day.”

Renner was also asked about returning to work on Season 3 of “Kingstown.”

“It's been a wonderfully busy year,” he said. “I think I'm ready and I think I'm strong enough. I'll be back literally in a week.”

The “Hawkeye” actor has been active in keeping his fans updated on his recovery. He made a concerted effort to be healthy enough to walk the red carpet with a cane at the Disney+ world premiere of his series “Rennervations” last April.

In an interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer last April, Renner went into detail about how the accident occurred and explained that it was okay to allow a stunt double to perform more physical duties on set after his injury.

“Last night, I didn't sleep because I knew I was going to talk about it today. I have no regrets. I would do it again,” he said in the interview, adding: “I refuse to let it be a shock or a negative experience. This is a man I am proud of because I will not let this happen to my nephew. I change the narrative of being a victim, making a mistake, or whatever. I refuse to be haunted by that memory in this way.
