Prince Harry visits King Charles in the coming days

The Duke of Sussex will travel to the UK to visit King Charles “in the coming days” after Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch has cancer, the BBC has learned.

A spokesman for Prince Harry said he had spoken to his father about the diagnosis.

The Duke moved to the United States with his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, after they stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020.

Since then, his relationship with some other members of the royal family has been strained.

The spokesman said that Meghan would remain in the United States with her two children.

The Duke's last appearance at a royal event was in May, during the King's coronation.

It was quick, as Prince Harry left immediately after the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The BBC has learned that he was not invited to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the ceremony.

A source also told US media Page Six at the time that Prince Harry intended to make “every effort” to return in time for his son Archie's birthday – which was on the same day.
