Verdun |  A fire in an HLM mobilizes 70 firefighters

A fire broke out Sunday afternoon in the building of the Municipal d'Habitation de Montréal, which mobilized 70 firefighters and forced the evacuation of 135 residents. 3 people were affected by the smoke.


The Montreal Fire Protection Service (SIM) received the alert at 4:20 p.m. due to an activated alarm system.

However, the fire was quickly brought under control as it did not spread to nearby houses. Three people – two men and a woman – were shifted to CHUM due to smoke inhalation. The section leader notes that there is no danger to their lives.

Two hours after the initial warning, residents of the 135-unit building began returning to campus. Seven houses on the ground below the fire have been affected by water and the Red Cross will support the tenants, said M.me Beautiful sun.
