Nintendo continues to show strong support for Splatoon 3 and today marks its arrival Version 7.1.0. In this update, Inklings and Octolings can expect changes to Splatfests and Salmon Run mode as well as plenty of bug fixes.
This includes some fixes to the player controls, DLC side-ordering, SplatNet 3, and some other tweaks. In case you missed it, Nintendo has also released a bunch of music clips for its console Official YouTube channel Featuring Pearl and Marina.

Splatoon 3 version 7.1.0 (released March 21, 2024).
Changes to Splatfests
- Added a song that will play during Splatfest Battles and Tricolor Battles.
- This song will play regardless of whether the player has downloaded the DLC.
Changes in salmon runs
- For players not on the multiplayer host system, the time is shortened until those players pick up the touched Golden Egg immediately after depositing or throwing another Golden Egg.
This update focuses on adding a song to Splatfests.
The next update, scheduled for mid-season in 2024, will make changes to things like battles.
Bug fixes
- Fixes for player controls
- Fixed an issue with the Order Brella Replica Umbrella where the ink visible on it relative to the damage dealt was lower than the Splat Brella and Sorella Brella.
- Fixed an issue in Clam Blitz mode where, when you didn't have a clam, it was possible to swing the reels at shorter intervals than usual by alternately swinging the reel and performing a clam throw action.
- Sidequest fixes
- Fixed an issue where sometimes when players clear the sidequest story and return to the box, a connection error occurs and prevents them from watching until the end of the cutscene.
- A feature to rewatch this scene has been added to the Spire of Order entry.
- Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent the player from controlling a character after the scene looks at Spire of Order.
- Fixed an issue where in-game music would sometimes stop playing when playing Side Order continuously.
- Fixed an issue where, when the player presses the + button to open the pause screen with a certain time after entering the floor, the floor music would sometimes not play when the player closed the pause screen.
- Fixed an issue where, for reasons such as activating the Broken-Armor Jump in mid-air, sometimes when remaining mid-air in a position high in the air, the player would be treated as having fallen off the stage despite being in a position to return to the stage.
- Fixed an issue where the jump height was not uniform when jumping from the bounce platform.
- Fixed an issue where, when restarting after making a mistake on the floor where the reward challenge occurred, the icon at the top left showing the reward conditions was sometimes displayed overlapping with those different from the original conditions.
- Fixed an issue where the color of the marker indicating what you are aiming at would sometimes be different from the color of the player's ink due to the Homing Shots color chip.
- Fixed an issue in Rotational.Floor where players would sometimes crash into terrain when stuck between the Whirling Accelerando and the terrain.
- Fixed an issue where, when the Parallel Cannon touched active ink, it would sometimes blow the player away dramatically.
- Fixed an issue where, when pressing the A button in the point calculation screen at the end of a round in Spire of Order, the displayed earned points were sometimes higher than the number of points actually earned.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes when players clear the sidequest story and return to the box, a connection error occurs and prevents them from watching until the end of the cutscene.
- Fixes on SplatNet 3
- Fixed an issue where the “High Score!” That are displayed in the sidequest statistics are sometimes not updated correctly.
- Other fixes
- Fixed an issue where badges could not be obtained based on X rank position sometimes in Cold Season 2023.
- When your final rank in Chill Season 2023 meets the requirements, you will automatically get a badge when you go online and go to the lobby after applying the updated data.
- You can check your final standings on SplatNet 3.
- Fixed an issue where pressing the left stick on the screen where you ask Murch or Spyke to add gear abilities would sometimes prevent you from performing any other actions.
- Fixed an issue where the time limit could not be changed when using the random function to select the Tableturf battle phase in multiplayer.
- Fixed an issue where badges could not be obtained based on X rank position sometimes in Cold Season 2023.
