Tori Spelling shared a moment of vulnerability on the first episode of her podcast, Misspelled.
Spelling, which was introduced to Divorce By Dean McDermott March 29 The episode began with her admitting that she had not yet told McDermott that she had filed the papers. She said that at the time the episode was recorded, it had just become “public.”
“I have to call him now. He's at work. This is disgusting,” she said.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress explained that she was told that she could only inform her ex-husband about her file “once it was accepted and made public.”
She was then heard calling McDermott and leaving a message saying she needed to talk to him.
“I'm very nervous because I don't like confrontation,” she said after hanging up the phone.
McDermott called her while she was taping the episode, and Spelling recorded her part of the conversation.
After they spoke, Spelling told her friends in the room with her that she had “never felt more alone in 50 years.”
“I don't feel like I deserve love. That's the truth,” she said.
The two were married for 18 years, but Spelling said she wanted to file for “about 15 years” but didn't because of the couple's five children.
“We always say, ‘Hey, it's been 18 years. “He wasn't supposed to be 18,” Spelling said. “And I think he would have said the same thing if he and I had had an honest heart-to-heart conversation. It would have been over much sooner.”
Spelling added that the two started having problems a few months after getting together.
“We went through this fast and passionate period of love,” she said. “Everyone talks about red flags. I like to say that I just like to make dresses out of red flags and then move on.
She stated that anger issues contributed to the couple's problems.
