A drugged and drink-driving woman who injured another and assaulted a teenager was jailed for seven years on Tuesday as grieving relatives poured out their hearts.
“I’m never going to turn the page. Even if she gets out of prison, she needs to know that I’m still here because she killed my best friend,” the young woman who survived the confrontation confidently announced, leaving the trial in Longueuil court.
Moments earlier, Cheryl Ann Boucher pleaded guilty to her crimes on the evening of October 15, 2022, a date that marked two close families.
The 35-year-old woman was traveling in an Audi A3 at a speed of 110 km/h to 120 km/h in the company of a friend.
He was in a construction zone, at Carignan in Monterrey, where the limit was set at 40 km/h.
On the way, he collided with a moped carrying two 15-year-old boys, who cannot be named due to a court order.
“I killed him, I killed him,” Cheryl Ann Boucher repeated of the young driver after the tragedy.
The sentiment was palpable in the corridors of the courthouse on Tuesday.
According to two forensic toxicologists, the driver had a blood alcohol level 2.5 times the legal limit and was under the influence of methamphetamines.
The teenager who survived escaped with severe fractures that still cause him pain today. He also made sure to set his sights on the accused after the seven-year sentence was confirmed.

Judge Julie-Maude shook Gref and several family members took time to pour out their hearts in court.
“You took away our executioner. I can never forgive you,” said the ex-girlfriend of the deceased.

Emotions in the room reached a fever pitch as the deceased’s mother spoke. She tried to describe the indescribable pain.
“This child I saw grew up so beautifully and made me proud to be his mother. You took his life in the most cruel way,” she whispered through tears.

As for Cheryl Ann Boucher, she wanted an apology.
Note that he was already convicted of drunk driving in 2015 and caught for impaired driving eight months after the tragedy.
Judge Greff praised the courage of loved ones at length, and lamented the devastation caused by impaired driving.
“All this could have been avoided,” she said succinctly.
In the case, Cheryl Ann Boucher pleaded guilty Tuesday to various drug charges.
