Howard University revoked Sean “Diddy” Combs’ honorary degree on Friday and will return his $1 million donation amid mounting accusations of abuse against the music mogul.
Howard’s board of trustees voted unanimously to restore Combs’ degree, which the historically black university based in Washington, D.C., awarded him in 2014, and to sever ties with the rapper. The school said.
In addition, the Board of Directors agreed to return Combs’ $1 million donation, dissolve the scholarship program in his name and terminate all gift agreements with Combs and the Sean Combs Foundation.
“Mr. Combs’ behavior as seen in a recently released video is so fundamentally inconsistent with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he no longer deserves to receive the institution’s highest honor,” a Howard University spokesperson said in a statement.
