The NBA continues this week with its second and final game in Abu Dhabi.

The U.S. basketball team will face Nikola Jokic and Serbia in its third pre-Olympic exhibition game on Wednesday afternoon. The U.S. team has won both of its first two games and comes off a close 98-92 win over Australia on Monday. Anthony Davis was a big part of the U.S. win with 17 points.

Australia and Serbia faced off on Tuesday, and it was the Boomers who won 84-73. Miami Heat’s Patty Mills scored 28 points in that game — double Jokic’s 14 — hitting 7-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.

Wednesday’s game also serves as a preview of the group stage of the basketball tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The United States and Serbia are in Group C and will open their group stage matches against each other at the Olympics.

The Serbian team did not score a single point for three and a half minutes in the third quarter, thanks to missed shots and strong defense. Meanwhile, the US team continued its winning streak by scoring 12 unanswered points at the beginning of the second half, widening the gap to 71-45.

The U.S. struggled through the second quarter after a sluggish first 10 minutes. A series of scoring starts about midway through the quarter led the U.S. to a 14-point halftime lead.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Anthony Davis’s strong defense was a major reason the U.S. team scored, stopping a number of shots at the rim while running. The U.S. leads Serbia 59-45.

Curry’s four-pointer sparked the Americans’ enthusiasm, as they added more points to widen the gap to 53-42 with two minutes left in the second quarter.

The Boston Celtics guard is on the court for his first minutes with the U.S. national team midway through the second quarter.

The US regained the lead thanks to a three-pointer from Steph Curry, who continued scoring by rushing to the basket to score two and then four points on the next two plays. The US led 44-40.

The two multiple NBA MVPs combined for a pair of beautiful passes to find Joel Embiid open under the rim for a quick two-pointer.

The US continued to make mistakes, allowing Serbia to regain the lead with two three-pointers early in the third quarter. LeBron James ended an eight-game winning streak, but Serbia took a 34-31 lead.

Serbia managed to get the ball up the field quickly after the USA missed a number of shots. Serbia scored the equalizer in stoppage time to tie the game at the end of the first quarter.

After Team USA moved the ball to start possession, the ball ended up in the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves star. Edwards hit a three-pointer from the top of the box to tie the score at 24-24 with a minute left in the first quarter.

He followed that up with a steal and a foul to go to the free throw line, where he made two free throws. The USA regained the lead, 26-24.

With two Americans in front of him, the center passed the ball to Dobric so he could get an open look behind the arc. After the missed shot, Jokic took the board and blasted a shot over the defense. Serbia leads 22-19.

On a one-on-one possession after the steal, Serbian forward Ognjen Dobric sent a high pass to center Filip Petrushev, who blasted it over Anthony Davis to give Serbia an 18-15 lead.

The three-time NBA Most Valuable Player received chants of “MVP” from the crowd after hitting two free throws. Serbia now leads 16-13 at the first media break.

Several misunderstandings led to mistakes on the part of the United States, allowing Serbia to extend its lead to 8-0. Serbia led the United States 14-13, after half of the first quarter.

After the Americans won the match, Curry scored a three-pointer from the left wing to start the scoring for both sides. He then scored another three-pointer moments later to put the Americans up 7-4 after two minutes of play.
