WWE legend Hulk Hogan is set to speak at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night before former President Donald Trump accepts the Republican nomination for president of the United States, according to a report.
The retired wrestler is scheduled to speak before Trump is formally accepted during the final day of the convention, Two senior campaign officials told NBC News.
It was not immediately clear what Hogan would talk about.
Hogan, 70, He told Fox & Friends, Last month, he said he was considering entering politics now that he had retired from wrestling.
““We need someone out there with some common sense,” Hogan said.
“So if you need a president or vice president, I will volunteer and run this country, and I will rule with an iron fist, a flat tax — nothing but common sense. I know right from wrong, bro,” he added.
Trump’s formal acceptance comes days after he announced that 39-year-old Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance would be his running mate.
Vance was officially nominated as Trump’s running mate on Monday, but he saved his remarks until the end of the night on Day 3, which increased enthusiasm among the attendees.
In his acceptance speech, Vance pledged to fight for ordinary working Americans, and shared personal stories about his mother’s battle with addiction and his working-class upbringing in rural Ohio.
Much of his speech echoed the account in “Hillbilly Elegy” — the best-selling book that brought him fame in 2016, which details his upbringing in a working-class family and the decline of the Rust Belt.
Vance also spoke about Trump’s resilience — noting Trump’s quick return to the campaign trail after he was shot by a gunman at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire on the former president from a nearby rooftop during a rally in Butler, hitting Trump in the ear and killing rallygoer Corey Comperatore.
After the assassination attempt, Secret Service personnel shot Crooks, killing him, and then threw Trump to the ground before escorting him to his motorcade. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not announced a motive for the shooting.
