If you’re planning to buy the iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max when they likely launch later this year, we hope you saved money, because these phones are sure to be among the most expensive phones of 2024.
iPhone 16 pricing hasn’t been revealed yet of course, but based on previous models along with leaks and rumors, we can confidently say that the upcoming Pro models will cost a lot.
In fact, we can be more specific than that, so below you’ll find our expected prices for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
iPhone 16 Pro Price Predictions
To start, it’s worth looking at how much the iPhone 15 Pro will cost, as this is likely to be the minimum price Apple will charge for the iPhone 16 Pro.
The iPhone 15 Pro starts at $999 / £999 / AU$1,849, but you can see the full prices for each configuration in the chart below.
storage | Price in USA | UK price | AU price |
128 GB | $999 | 999 pounds | 1,849 AUD |
256 GB | $1099 | 1099 pounds | 2049 AUD |
512 GB | $1299 | £1299 | 2,399 AUD |
1 TB | $1499 | £1499 | 2749 AUD |
Will the iPhone 16 Pro reflect this? It’s very likely, but in any case, this phone may be priced higher than the current model.
After all, leaks suggest that there are a lot of upgrades to the iPhone 16 Pro specs. It could have a larger screen, for example, along with a new A18 Pro chip, and new lenses for the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras.
In fact, we’ve specifically heard that the camera lenses on the iPhone 16 Pro could cost more to manufacture than the iPhone 15 Pro lenses. So all of this suggests that the price could go up.
However, production costs have also increased with the iPhone 15 lineup, and Apple has kept prices similar to the iPhone 14 series (with some slight variations depending on your region). So, it’s safe to say that Apple could do the same again and continue to price the same again – but we’re more inclined to say that the price increase is well-deserved.
So, it’s unlikely that the iPhone 16 Pro will cost less than $999 / £999 / AU$1,849, and while it may carry that price tag around, we wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was a little more expensive – perhaps starting at around $1,099 / £1,099 / AU$1,999.
iPhone 16 Pro Max Price Predictions
Mostly, the same leaks and predictions apply to the iPhone 16 Pro Max price as they do to the iPhone 16 Pro price, but let’s start with the iPhone 15 Pro Max price.
This phone starts at $1,199.99 / £1,199 / AU$2,199, so that’s probably the minimum you’ll pay for the iPhone 16 Pro Max – you can see the full iPhone 15 Pro Max pricing in the chart below.
storage | Price in USA | UK price | AU price |
256 GB | $1,199.99 | £1199 | 2199 AUD |
512 GB | $1,399.99 | £1,399 | 2,549 AUD |
1 TB | $1,599.99 | £1,599 | 2899 AUD |
But as with the iPhone 16 Pro, we think there’s a strong chance the upcoming phone will be priced higher than the current model.
This is for the same reasons that happened with the iPhone 16 Pro, that is, with higher production costs, the price increase is likely to be a result of higher prices from Apple’s point of view, and the costs associated with building the iPhone 16 Pro Max may increase more than those of the iPhone 16 Pro.
This phone is rumored to have a massive 6.9-inch display, as well as the same A18 Pro chip as its smaller sibling. It is also rumored to have updated cameras — including possibly a new “super telephoto” camera, which could be very expensive. Anyway, as with the iPhone 16 Pro, the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s cameras are rumored to include a new — and expensive — type of lens.
Some leaks have also pointed to an iPhone Ultra, which could be a different phone, but could also be another name for the iPhone 16 Pro Max — and whether it launches as the Ultra or not, the fact that such a name change is being whispered suggests that this could be a huge upgrade. And with huge upgrades, they can come with huge prices.
However, we doubt Apple will go overboard with the price hike, especially if this product continues to carry the Pro Max branding, so our guess is that the starting price could be around $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,199.
We should find out the exact pricing before long, as the iPhone 16 release date is likely to be in September.
