32 kilos of cannabis hidden in luggage: Two arrested at Toronto airport

Two attempts to export cannabis to Toronto Pearson International Airport resulted in the seizure of 32 kilograms of the substance and two arrests.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) arrested Canadian citizen Kery Maddison on July 25 after finding about 23.25 kilograms of cannabis hidden in his luggage, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Canada (RCMP) announced on Thursday.

On July 28, 2024, the CBSA arrested Canadian permanent resident Stanford Wind after 8.8 kg of cannabis was found hidden in his luggage.

Keri Madison, 36, and Stanford Wind, 53, are scheduled to appear in court on September 5, 2024.

“The RCMP Border Integrity Program is committed to preventing and disrupting cross-border crime. “These seizures highlight the excellent work and cooperation between RCMP and CBSA officers to intercept shipments of cannabis and other illegal substances at Canada’s busiest airport,” said Officer John McMath.

If you have information about suspicious cross-border activity, call the CBSA’s toll-free Border Surveillance Line at 1-888-502-9060.
