The city of Longueuil confirmed Sunday evening that the boil water advisory in effect for the city of Boucherville, the borough of Saint-Hubert and the affected area of the borough of Vieux-Longueuil has now been lifted.
“The results of recent analyzes from the network are consistent,” the City of Longueuil pointed out in a press release.
Citizens affected by this notification are no longer required to boil their water before drinking it.
Also note that a boil water advisory is still in effect for the city of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, pending the results of sample analyses. The municipality promises to communicate with its citizens on its social media to keep them informed of developments in the situation.
Note that advisories were issued early Saturday morning due to the remnants of the passing storm “Debi”.
What to do after a boil water advisory is lifted?
Once the boil water advisory is lifted, there are no specific actions to take. The water is safe for consumption. However, the following precautions can be taken:
Run water from all cold water faucets for a few minutes. Follow the same procedure for fountains and water tanks;
– emptying, washing and disinfecting ice machines;
– clean the external pipes;
– In the case of a water treatment device, check the measures to be taken with the manufacturer.
