Bo Nix shines again in Broncos-Packers preseason game

Knicks finished the night by completing 8 of 9 passes for 80 yards with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Tim Patrick and a 140.7 quarterback rating. Knicks started the game in front of the Mile High crowd, leading two scoring drives. The first ended in a field goal after Knicks’s brilliant pass to Javonte Williams was overturned when replay showed he had crossed the line of scrimmage.

However, in the preseason, the Knicks’ most notable showing was their case for winning the starting contest against Jarrett Stidham, who finished Sunday with 7-of-11 passing for 65 yards, no touchdowns, one interception and a solid 9-yard rushing touchdown.

Nix’s footwork was evident during the aforementioned third-and-3 play from the Packers’ 14-yard line when he rushed into the pocket, darted outside and then fired an off-balance touchdown to an unmarked Williams for a terrific 14-yard field goal — or nearly so, as it were.

Over two preseason games, Nix led the Broncos in six touchdown attempts. He completed 23 of 33 passes for 205 yards and two scores with no interceptions, while racking up 29 yards on the ground on six carries.

Stidham took over in the second quarter, but initially struggled to keep the offense going, having been unable to do so in the team’s Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He also added a highlight of his career when he scored a touchdown on a lob over a defender. However, the highlights were for the Knicks, and the clamor for him to take over the starting job is growing.

The No. 12 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft made a strong case to be the Broncos’ regular-season starter in his preseason debut. He could have made an even stronger case Sunday.
