A colleague was suddenly awake when a man, who was sleeping on the wheel of his moving car, accidentally collided with a police officer.
Law enforcement officers responded to the man around 4 a.m. Friday.
The 22-year-old’s vehicle was still running, parked in the corner of rue d’Auteuil and rue Sainte-Anne in old Quebec.
When they arrived, the police parked their vehicle in front of the person to prevent the person from fleeing the scene. An officer stopped between two cars and then woke up his co-worker who was sleeping.
“When he got up, the man jumped and released the brake he was pressing on. This is what caused the second police officer to get stuck between the two bumpers,” explains Marie-Pierre Reward of the Service de la Ville de Quebec (SPVQ).
He was taken to hospital for appropriate treatment due to physical injuries sustained under the agent. However, he suffered only minor injuries, which were not life-threatening.
The SPVQ says the driver was not intoxicated, but very tired.
Although it is flawed in the broadest sense, it is felt that the latter do not have to face justice.
