Montreal, who is accused of violently assaulting a 10-year-old girl in the middle of the street, will be subjected to ongoing mental assessments while in custody.

“We want him to be sent to the Philip-Final Institute after his fitness to stand trial and his guilt.”And Annabelle Shepherd, of the Crown, in Montreal Court on Wednesday.
Defendant Tanveer Singh, 21, did not oppose the move. When the judge asked if he understood the situation, he simply replied, “Yes, sir.”
His quiet air, however, was in stark contrast to the aggression he had made last Monday. That day, he allegedly assaulted a 10-year-old boy returning from school in the Pointe-aux-Trembles district.
Singh is said to have fallen to the ground before being hit in the face by the girl.
“This is a common danger,” the victim’s aunt commented Wednesday, calling him a “demon.”
After a vicious attack, he was charged with causing physical harm and possession of a weapon, which led to an initial assessment, which led to his request for his fitness to stand trial for a second.
If he does, psychiatrists will test whether he can be held criminally responsible for his actions.
Still in the hospital
Relatives of the girl, who is being treated at the hospital, said on Wednesday that her condition was improving.
“His mother is in bed,” said the victim’s aunt. She’s fine, but it will definitely take time, and she’s in shock. I know she’s a victim and she does not deserve it. ⁇
The Crown also assured that everything has been done to reassure the relatives.
“The focus of our concern is on having better support for the victim and their family,” she said.And Shepherd.
