Today is a historic event in Montreal

Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:00 pm – This is the official: The first heat wave of the year was recorded in Montreal.

On Saturday afternoon, the city of Montreal recorded a temperature of 30.6 C, while regularizing the first heat wave of the year – summer has not yet begun.

Good to know: In Quebec, the term heat wave is used when the temperature reaches 30 degrees Celsius for at least three days.

This is the first heat wave ever seen in many parts of the world. The previous record was called the heat wave from May 17 to 19, 1962.

Heat waves are lowest in May. Since data collection began in 1942, Montreal has observed only four. The last episode of the flow occurred in 2020, when the average temperature was 31.2 C.

Western and southern Quebec were particularly badly affected by the heat. For example, the hot spot in Quebec has been buzzing many times over the past few days. This happened again on Saturday as the municipality reached 31.4 C.

However the heat transfer is coming to an end. From Sunday, the temperature will drop to 30 degrees Celsius as the cold front passes.
