He remained calm under pressure.
A Brazilian fisherman has miraculously survived 11 days at sea in shark-infested waters by floating inside a refrigerator after his boat sank, according to reports.
Romualdo’s ship Macedo Rodriguez began sucking water while traveling in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of northern Brazil – and then began to sink.
He frantically climbed inside a large refrigerator and floated inside the device for 11 days until another boat took him off the coast of Suriname, According to CNN.
“I was desperate,” CNN reported. “I thought my end was coming. But thank God, God has given me another chance.”
Rodriguez, who doesn’t know how to swim, said he noticed the freezer was swaying in the water while the rest of the boat slid out of sight.
“I jumped inside of it, fell to one side and maintained normal,” he said.
Rodriguez said the sharks ran around the freezer but never attacked — and that he had to scoop the water with his hands whenever it started filling up.
He said, “I didn’t sleep.” I saw dawn, dusk, I ask God to send someone to save me. I was thinking of my children, my wife. Every day I thought about my mum, dad and all of my family. It gave me hope.”
As soon as his fight for survival began to wane, the boat arrived and rescued him.
“I raised my arm and asked for help,” he said. “This freezer was God in my life. The only thing I had was a freezer. It was a miracle.”
