A child died of cardiorespiratory failure in Quebec

An eight-month-old baby died of cardiorespiratory arrest Tuesday afternoon in the Saint-Sauveur sector in Quebec.

At 1:47 p.m., the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) was called to St-Vallier Street West to respond to a young child suffering a heart attack. The first police officers who arrived at the scene tried to resuscitate the child.

“The paramedics took charge of the child and the police coordinated an escort to ensure that the ambulance arrived at the hospital quickly. The child's death was unfortunately noted at the hospital,” explains SVPQ spokesperson Pierre-Olivier Lévesque.

Investigators and Forensic Identification Unit went to the scene and shed light on this tragic case due to the young age of the victim.
